========================= Starbase 7 News - Mid-December 2001 ========================= -----Regional News #New Region 7 Recruiting Officer named I am pleased to announce that Bob Vosseller has been offered and accepted the postion of Region 7 Recruiting Officer. Bob brings experience, dedication, affability, and knowledge to the role. He has also promised to work closely with existing staff and other applicants for the role in his quest for continuous improvement. Congratulations, Bob! #Announcement from the R7 Historian Because of the many disputes regarding my intellectual property rights over the past few months, I have had to delete my online albums. As historian of Region 7, my primary responsibility will be to research and write the history of Region 7 from the beginnings of the Regions system (ca. 1977) to the present. In view of my increased responsibilities at work since the departmental restructuring at my workplace last summer and the events of September 11th, that will be the sole focus of this office from now on. #Model Building Contest for Farpoint Members of the USS Adamant & USS Ascension are part of a sci-fi model building group known as "The Collective". Many of you have seen their dealer tables at Shoreleave and Farpoint. This Farpoint they will be putting together a model contest with awards. They have already received Steve Wilson's blessing and a brief mention on the Farpoint panel page http://www.bcpl.net/~wilsonr/panels.htm Entries can be based on any and all sci-fi, fantasy and horror titles (From Star Trek to the Werewolf) and can include: Figures (i.e. Movie, TV and cartoon characters such as Frankenstein, Godzilla, wizards, dragons, Robby the Robot, etc.) Vehicles (i.e. Luke's landspeeder, the DeLorean from Back to the Future, etc,) Vessels and Space Stations (i.e. The Enterprise, X-Wing Fighter, Babylon5, Deep Space Nine, etc. etc.) There is no limit to how many models one person can enter. And one person can enter models across the genre categories. We established these categories to keep our focus on sc-fi, fantasy and horror since those are the core things that bring us together twice a year at Hunt Valley. Our judging staff, at the moment, will be The Collective. We are hoping that maybe some interested Farpoint committee members might also want to be judges. We will have sign up sheets for entering your model(s) available at our dealer table in the long hallway outside the main dealer room along the windows. You can't miss us, just look for all of the models. As for awards, our plan is to award first, second and third place overall. If turnout is high then we might expand the awards next time.
