========================= Starbase 7 News - Mid-February 2002 ========================= -----Regional News #Regional Staff returning to forefront Both the RC and the CoS have had to deal with personal issues lately. We are now back up to speed, dealing with the backlog of stuff, and are again giving our full attention to the Region. #Regional Conference Up for Bid Region 7's 2002 Conference, to be held in Fall of this year, is out for bid now. Bid requirements can be received from the RC at jccohen@14850.com. The bids are due to the RC by March 30th, 2002. Winning bids also get to negotiate a humiliation to inflict upon the RC. #Other Regional events up for Bid Region 7 also has a set of other events each year: a picnic, a Halloween party, and a holiday party. Requirements and bid guidelines are available from the RC. New events may also be considered. Bids for the picnic and Halloween part are due April 10th, the Holiday Party due by May 31st. Submit bids to the RC. #Sector 2 IRC chat to be held The Sector 2 VRC is having a chat for all Sector 2 chapters, members, and interested parties on February 28th at 8PM in #Sector2. Topics to be discussed: Regional conference and event bids, regional award submissions, combining sector 2 ship events, a possible sector 2 logo, Trek Olympics, shuttle development, recruiting opportunities, possible face to face sector summit in the near future and anything else the members of sector 2 wish to talk about. #Events Calendar made open access To better serve the members of the Region, Webmaster Lauren Milan has modified the eventssection of the region7.com homepage to list the next 3 upcoming events of the region7.com events calendar, rather then only major Regional events. How does it work? Well, any events you add to the region7.com events calendar will be shown on the events page. But the next 3 events will be featured on the homepage. When an event passes, the calendar goes to the next event on the list and adds that to the homepage, so there will always be exactly 3 events on the homepage. Regional Events will still have a place of prominence by being placed in the more permanent Announcements section. If you want to get your events in there? go to region7.com and click on "events" and choose "event editor". It's an online form that posts all your event info to the calendar, with all your details & contact info, even a link to your web site! Note: you need a username & password to get into the event editor: if you don't have one, or if you need a reminder, please contact Lauren at laurenmilan@yahoo.com and I can set you up. #Polar Bear Plunge a huge success!
